Team SOP - General Communications

Gear

  • Radio capable of rx/tx on both ham and gmrs
  • APRS data cable
  • Phone or tablet device
  • Rattlegram installed on device
  • Cryptography app installed on device
  • Some kind of comms enabled headset/ear pro
  • PTT device (u94, disco32, etc)

Reports

We may need to relay various reports between teams in the field, a base of operations, patrols, etc.

  • SALUTE
  • LACE

Methods of Communicating

We have the ability to communicate verbally over radio, which may require some human encryption, or via data bursts using Rattlegram which may or may not use encryption.

Frequencies

We should not assume to always use the same frequencies every single time. To train the more likely scenario of having frequencies change and assigned, we should define frequencies every mission/training, and ensure these are passed down to team members.

Frequency Type/Role/Group

We may identify multiple channels for various uses, with any min/max based on the training scenario. If only primary and secondary works then that is fine.

  • Primary
  • Secondary
  • Team 1
  • Team 2
  • Emergency
  • Leadership
