Team SOP - Patrol Bounding
Bounding is a tactical movement technique where a small group (1-4 individuals) in an SHTF scenario alternates between moving and providing cover in short, coordinated advances to maintain security and minimize exposure in urban or rural settings.
Bounding
Successive bounding is when one team bounds up, then the second team bounds up generally on line. Alternating bounding is when one team bounds, and then the second team moves to a position in front of the first.
Given a four man fire team, you could have buddy pairs both bounding at same time within the buddy teams, or each buddy team moves together alternating with the other buddy team.
- Default to successive bounding, in buddy pairs, if fire team
- Team leader should call the left or right side bound to initiate (or if TL calls “moving”)
- Default to bounding as a buddy team
- Bounding by default is enemy contact greater than >50m
- When within <50m, “assault through” is assumed/default, where the team moves and shoots clearing the space to enemy contact
