Below are the common features/functions that every prepared citizen should have practice with performing on their particular radio.

Mode Selection | Switch between FM, AM, or digital modes |
Monitor Function | Listen for weak signals by disabling squelch |
Power On/Off | Turn the radio on and off |
PTT (Push-to-Talk) | Activate the microphone to transmit |
RX/TX Light | Enable/disable screen light coming on when RX/TX |
Scan Channels | Automatically search for active frequencies |
Screen Brightness | Adjust how dim/bright the screen is |
