Training - Firearm Intermediate Drills

Accelerator (2.5s)

Three targets placed at the 7/15/25 yard distance. Shooter to engage at various distance with 2x rounds per target.

Off-the-X

One target, any distance. Magazine loaded with 3x rounds. Shooter facing uprange. On threat, turn, move off the X, shoot 3x, move off the X again, reload, shoot 3x.

Simple 2-Round Barricade

Single target, any distance. Shooter starts behind barricade. On threat, shooter fires 2x rounds each side of barricade.

Suicides

Single target. Cones setup at the 7/10/15/25 yard. Shooter starts uprange at the 25 yard cone. On threat, shoot fires 1x round static. Shooter then runs to the 7yd cone and back to 25yd, then fires another round. Shooter then runs up to the 10yd cone and back to 25yd, then fires another round. Repeat for 15 and 25 yard cones.

100 Yard Suicides

Single target. Shooter starts downrange near the target, facing uprange. On threat, shooter sprints 5x laps up/down for 100yd (assuming 25 yard lane). Shooter should finally establish a good shooting position and fire 2x rounds to the center A heart.

Run, Push, Jump, Grab Your Gun, Shoot

Shooter to stage their rifle uprange at 25yd. Shooter then starts downrange at the target. On threat, shooter to sprint up and down range. Shooter then performs 10-pushups, 10-jumping jacks. Shooter to then run uprange to their gun and fire 5x rounds to center A heart.

Lateral Shoot-on-the-Move

Single target. Setup 4-6 cones 3-5yd apart in a straight line laterally (side to side) at any distance. Shooter starts on far left or right side. On threat, shooter to fire 3x rounds on the move. Shooter should break down and move to other side of the cones, firing 3x rounds. The shooter should essentially be tracing a figure 8 all the way down range (lateral).

Closing the Gap Shoot-on-the-Move

Single target. Setup 4-6 cones 3-5yd apart in a straight line uprange to downrange at any distance. Shooter starts at the furthest uprange cone. On threat, shooter to fire 3x rounds on the move. Shooter should break down and move to other side of the cones, firing 3x rounds. The shooter should essentially be tracing a figure 8 all the way down range (forward).

X Box

Three targets. Setup 4x cones in a square box. On threat, shooter to fire 2x rounds per target on the move while moving between corners of the box. Shooter should run to get to each cone if rounds are fired and distance needs to be covered (dont just walk between if you fired all rounds).

Triple Buttonhook

Three targets. Setup cones in an L shape at the 7/15/20 yard distance. Shooter starts downrange next to target, facing uprange. On threat, shooter to run to the cones at the 7yd, button hook into the L, and fire 2x rounds on target 1. Shooter then needs to break down and run to the second set of cones at 15 yards, button hook again, then fire 2x rounds at target 1 and 2x rounds at target 2. Shooter then needs to run to third set of cones at 20 yards and fire 2x rounds on all three targets.

React to Contact Facing

Single target. Shooter to repeat the drill for each facing of left, right and uprange. Shooter starts facing left of target. On threat, shooter turns, draws/presents weapon, and fires 2x rounds center A zone. Repeat for right facing and uprange facing.

One Legged Center-Right-Left

Single target. Places three cones laterally left, center, right at any distance. Shooter starts from the center cone. On threat, shooter fires one round. Shooter then sprints to the right cone, stands on their right leg while firing one round. Shooter then sprints to the left target, stands on their left leg while firing one round. Shooter then returns to the center cone and fires a final 1x round.

Around the World

Two targets. Setup cones in an X shape (box with a 5th cone in the center). Shooter starts at the middle cone. On threat, shooter fires 2x rounds per target. Shooter then moves to each cone repeating the 2x rounds per target while moving in the order of front left to front right, rear right, rear left, then finally finishes back on center cone (essentially clockwise then back to center).

Thread the Needle

Two targets. Setup 5x cones from the 10yd to 25yd (or more) distance. Shooter to start uprange, then sprint to the first cone, then fire 2x rounds per target. Shoot then fires all subsequent rounds alternate targets while walking through cones.

Lateral Stop, Go

5x targets. Setup cones at the far left and right positions. Shooter to start at far left cone. On threat, shooter fires 3x rounds on target 1. Shooter then begins move-while-shooting moving laterally to the right, shooting 3x rounds on target 2, 3, and 4. When reaching the far right cone, shooter fires 3x rounds on target 5 while static. Repeat drill in opposite direction.

Two-Fifty-Two

Single target. Shooter starts uprange. On threat, shooter fires 2x rounds, then sprints 50yd (up and back if 25y indoor), then fires a final 2x rounds.

Double Two-Fifty-Two

Two targets at far left/right sides. Shooter starts uprange. On threat, shooter fires 2x rounds, then sprints 50yd (up and back if 25yd indoor), fires 2x rounds, move lateral to opposite side, repeat the 2-50-2. Repeat starting on left/right side.

1-2-3

3x targets. Shooter starts facing uprange at 25yd. On threat, shoote fires 1x round on each target. Shooter then runs up to 15yd. Shooter to fire 2x rounds at each target with strong hand only, reload, run up to 7yd, fire 3x rounds on each target normal grip with both hands.

2-2-2-R-2-2-2

3 targets and barricade. The left/right outside targets should have 45-degree NOSHOOT zones. On threat, shooter fires 2x rounds on each target from one side of barrel/barricade, reload, repeat for other side of barricade.

5/10 Reloads

Single target. On threat, shooter fires 1x round, reload, move lateral, fire 1x round. Repeat with 5yd and 10yd lateral distance.

Peace Two

Two targets at far left and right sides. Setup 4x cones in a box at the 7/20 yard distances. Shooter starts at 7 yards on the front right side. On threat, shooter fires 2x rounds, moves to rear left 20yd cone, fires 2x rounds on left target. Shooter then moves to the rear right 20yd cone and fires 2x rounds. Shooter then moves to the front left 7yd cone, firing a final 2x rounds to the left target.

Barhop

Two targets. On threat, shooter fires 2x rounds on the first target, then 2x rounds on the second target while hopping a stick/bar on the ground, then fires 2x rounds again on both targets.

Position Entry 2-2-1

Three targets, with two setup close to each other on one side, and the third to the right side. Target 3 should be placed further distance if outdoors and possible. Be aware of angles if indoor. Shooter to start at 25yd. On threat, shooter draws and runs up to 10yd, firing 2x rounds to the left side 2 targets, then 1x round to right target (pew-pew, pew-pew, ting). Emphasis on throttle control, position entry, establishing a good shooting position, then engaging three targets.

Stand-Kneel-Stand

Single target. On threat, shooter fires 1x round per position.

Scrambler (T-Rex?)

Three targets at left/center/right. Setup cones in an X with one at center, from 20m to 10m. Shooter starts at left rear (20m) cone. On threat, shooter fires 2x rounds at left target, then moves laterally and forward to front right (10M) firing 2x rounds on the move at middle target, then sprinting to front left cone to fire 2x rounds static. Shooter then moves laterally to front left cone firing 2x rounds at middle target, then sprinting to front left cone to fire 2x rounds at left target from static. Reverse direction.

1-2-3

Two targets left/right. On threat, shooter to fire 1x round on T1, 2x rounds on T2, 3x rounds on T1.

Two Target Tracking

Two targets, setup in a high/low position. On threat, shooter fires 2x rounds on top (threat) target, then tracks to the ground (low target) to simulate tracking a body falling.

Ground Work

Single target. Shooter starts from the prone position. On threat, shooter fires 2x rounds, moves to on back position and fires 2x rounds, then repeat for left and right side positions.

Single target. Setup cones laterally left to right with 3-5m spacing. Shooter starts on left side. Shooting is done all with one hand (pistol only). On threat, shooter fires 1x rounds between cones, while moving laterally between tracing figure 8 between condes. Repeat right to left.

Six Hit or Miss

Single target. Setup two barrels/cones on left/right sides. Shooter starts from left side and fires 1x round to center A zone. Shooter moves back and forth firing static at each cone until they make a total of six A zone hits.

Z Two

Single target. Setup cones in a Z pattern 7yd to 20yd. On threat, shooter to fire 2x rounds per cone/leg, sprinting the remaining distance to corner positions. Shooter should trace a Z shape/pattern. Start uprange to downrange then reverse direction.

Two Over Up

Single target. Setup cones left/right at 20yd, then one cone at 7yd. On threat, shooter to fire 2x rounds while moving lateral (left to right), sprinting the remaining distance. Shooter then fires 2x rounds on the move towards the target while moving downrange 20yd to 7yd.

X Reload

Single target. Setup cones/barrels in an X shape (four corners and center) at 7yd and 20yd (or more). Shooter starts at the center cone. On threat, shooter fires 1x round from center cone, then 1x round per barrel. Shooter to move between any barrels of their choice, returning to the center each time. A speed reload is required before firing the last round.
