Training - Rifleman Level 1 (Individual Fundamentals)

These drills are designed for static firing on a range line, focusing on fundamental rifle skills to build confidence and proficiency. They assume riflemen have basic familiarity with their weapon (e.g., safety, loading) but need to master manipulations under stress.

All rounds fired should be to center A zone (unless otherwise indicated) to count for scoring of a pass/fail. All drills run from 15 yards.

  • Load and Make Ready: Pistol loaded first, followed by rifle. Dust cover closed.
  • Ready-Ups: Fire one round at a single target. Repeat from low ready, high ready, high port, low port, and compressed low ready positions.
  • Reload with and without retention: Fire one round at a single target, perform a reload, then fire two additional rounds. Repeat for with and without retention (admin/tactical/emergency).
  • Controlled Pairs: Fire two rounds to a single target. Repeat two times.
  • Mozambique/Failure-to-stop: Fire two rounds to center A zone, followed by one round to credit card. Run from low ready.
  • Bill Drill (Modified): Fire six rounds (same distance as all other drills)
  • Two for Two: Fire two rounds at left target, transition and fire two rounds to right target.
  • El Presidente: Fire two rounds at three targets from left to right, reload, fire two rounds at three targets from right to left.
  • Contact Facing: Repeat for facing left, right, and uprange. Fire one round, repeating for each of the three directions.
