Training - Scenario 3: Extraction Under Fire
Scenario 3: Extraction Under Fire
Setting
- The team must extract a 'downed pilot' from a crash site along the logging road under simulated enemy pressure
Objectives
Team Objective
Locate, secure, and safely extract the pilot with minimal casualties.
Exercise Details
Setup
- The team is divided into two groups: one for direct extraction and another for providing cover fire and flank security
- The extraction team approaches in a staggered column to reach the crash site
Actions
- Upon reaching the site, conduct a quick assessment with MARCH medical training to stabilize the 'pilot'
- The cover team, positioned in a diamond around the extraction point, responds to simulated enemy forces with suppressive fire and movement to new positions to confuse the 'enemy'
Extraction
Once the pilot is secured, the team moves back to a safe extraction point in file formation for maximum speed, with the cover team providing rear security.
Debrief
Evaluate the speed of medical response, coordination between teams, and effectiveness of the cover fire.
